Registration is now closed, applicants who have already applied will be advised if successful within two weeks from the close of applications  

 

The AfRP-9 and the 8th High Level Meeting on Disaster Risk Reduction is organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) in collaboration with the Southern African Development Community (SADC). 

The AfRP-9 will focus on the following three critical issues or most important to the risk reduction and resilience building agenda today:   

  • Applying Risk Information for Transformative Governance   

  • Investing to Reduce Risk: Changing the way money is spent 

  • Reducing Loss and Damage: Saving lives and protecting investments 

 

The Marketplace Booths present a unique opportunity for organizations to showcase their projects, tools, and initiatives related to disaster risk reduction (DRR) and resilience building. The Marketplace is designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing among DRR stakeholders. 

 

Eligibility 

 

Organizations involved in DRR projects and initiatives are eligible to apply. We invite different stakeholders and participants, including Member States, Parliamentarians, Local Governments, United Nations system entities, Intergovernmental Organizations, Major Groups and other Stakeholders. 

 

Selection Criteria 

 

The AfRP-9 Secretariat, will review and select the booth owners. 

  • Relevance: Alignment with Sendai Framework goals and priorities. 

  • Geographical Balance: Representation from diverse regions. 

  • Innovation: Novel approaches and solutions in DRR. 

  • Impact: Demonstrated or potential positive impact on DRR 

 

Responsibilities of Booth Owners 

 

  • Booth owners must secure a representative to be present at the booth. Additionally, the representative should arrive the day before the AfRP – 21 October, 2024.Representatives should be knowledgeable about the project, tool, or initiative presented, and capable of engaging with attendees. 

  • While the event organizers will be responsible for building and dismantling the structure of the booth, booth owners are responsible for the setup, maintenance and removal of their materials from their booth as well as encouraged to actively engage with AfRP attendees.
