This session will explore the implementation of the Africa Multi-Hazard Early Warning and Early Action System (AMHEWAS) at the national level, emphasizing its critical role in enhancing disaster resilience across the continent. As disasters in Africa continue to rise in frequency and severity, there is an urgent need to strengthen early warning systems that provide timely and actionable information. The session will highlight good practices from countries and Regional Economic Communities (RECs) that have successfully integrated AMHEWAS, identify common challenges, and discuss practical solutions to improve data-sharing, institutional coordination, and access to technical assistance. Participants will also examine AMHEWAS's broader potential to support various sectors, including agriculture, health, and humanitarian response, enabling a more comprehensive approach to disaster risk management. This interactive session aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders, driving innovation and commitment to building resilience in Africa.
